Ok, I'm really NOT kidding about the peas!

What do you mean "what are you talking about?" ?

Oh, ok, maybe that WAS a wee bit random.

Let me take you back to ten days ago....

It all started when I went to Home De-pot to get some plywood so I could get my bed off my floor finally (long story, too boring to tell), and after finding out that I wasn't going to be able to do that, I consoled myself by buying stromberry plants, a whole flat of them to be truthful, and some pea seeds, a weird statement but you know what I mean, and pumpkin seeds. Even though I live in an apartment, I decided that I WILL NOT BE DENIED planting stuff this year!

So home I went with the seeds, potting soil for gardens, and a set of those quick start sets with the little rounds of dirt in netting. You know of what I speak? They are very handy, and then the container acts like a mini greenhouse for your wee green babies. Very efficient way to get your plants started inside.

So I divided the set in half, planting peas in 6 of them, and pumpkins in the other half. I didn't expect to see any results for days, but literally 1 1/2 days later, the pea vines were through the top of the dirt!

   Dang! Talk about over achievers!

And the continued to make somewhat slowish progress for the next 2 days. But then POW! they hit the sunlight running, and have been growing at a phenominal rate since! They have been growing an inch a day at least, and then today they went nutso crazy!

I took 2 of the plants to my younger sister when we hooked up for coffee this morning at 10am, and really, I felt like a giant 4 year old who had grown beans for her mother at school and was giving them to her, all proud! LOL  It was a weird feeling! Well, a few hours later, Shannon wrote me to say that she had placed them under her desk lamp at work and they were already creeping into the lampshade! I thought that was neat, but sort of dismissed that they had actually grown that much...until I checked mine at 4:30 when I got home.

   HOLY INVASION, Batman!

The little suckers had grown literally 2+inches in the 6 hours since I had looked at them last! I was so shocked I literally blurted out "Holy Shit!" and took a step back! They are now at least a foot tall and growing as we speak...or read...well, you know what I mean.

So I made the decision to put them in slightly bigger biodegradable pots and put them in the back porch/mudroom tonight. It's still getting chilly at night, so hopefully they will do ok there. But they are too big to keep indoors anymore!

And now for the AGT thing. Yes, I have looked at the website and read the rules. They are being ultra strict on video length, the act portion can not be longer than 90 seconds or it's disqualified. So it's a matter of cutting a song down to that length and getting it on tape again. I am seriously thinking about doing "Home" from the Wiz. Yes, everyone and their mother in law is prolly going to submit that song, esp. since it was on Glee last week, but I have been telling myself for years that I was going to learn it, and THAT is a song that would sound decent acapella! I have a little time, so we'll see. My friend, Nick, said he would help me on this, so I will be calling him to help me record, etc. But I'm on it, people, I promise!

Well, that's it from here! Next blog post, I'll tell you all about the film crew that was here this past week filming me for their karaoke documentary! Stay healthy and warm, everyone!  Kari  :]

Wow, you must have a green thumb! Or they're scary mutant alien pod vines just disguising themselves as peas until the moment is right for planetary takeover! ;) Maybe you'll get special treatment as their foster-mom! ;)

Good luck with the plants! I'd start watching out for the pumpkins myself, sneaky little buggers! ;) They're just biding their time until you are thoroughly engrossed with pea watching...then they'll sneak up on ya!

Bon chance!

What are they, mutant peas???? Holy smoke-talk, about phenominal growth! They better be good eatin' for all the massive growth they're doing. And good luck, on your videos for AGT-sending some positive vibes your way!

Re: Help, I'm being attacked by my peas!!!!

I think she needs to take the part off where she says she will be posting here often. Three weeks since her last post.

Not too good of a way to have a fan base.
